The frame is intentionally off-set, hand cut, hand sanded, hand stained with a unique stain for the Sea Change Trio, and finished to protect against the sun. The painting is also finished in this way. Small brass nails adorn the outside of the frame for visual interest.

The phrase “to suffer a sea change” is a product of Shakespeare’s writing and was originally associated with drowning. It refers to the changes in our physical body and well as our spirit when we are taken by the sea.
